Deciding on clothing for your portrait session can be a big deal. I truly believe there is more to your family than matching white shirts. Don’t be afraid to show your personalities! I would choose 2-4 coordinating colours and choose your clothing from that palette. Here are some ideas for both winter and spring, which will be here before we know it! Yay!

Boutique Ancaster Child’s Portrait | I’m in Awe.

Yesterday I received two of the most beautiful dresses I’ve ever laid eyes on, made especially for my daughters! I am always in awe at how we are all blessed with different gifts and interests. Jocelyn Scholtens of Lysie Lou is definitely gifted with a passionate talent and interest in sewing! She designed these dresses and adjusted them to fit my two very different girls. They are made from an iridescent taffeta material. Rachel’s is turquoise and black with a black velvet ribbon for tying the wrap-around bodice, and Danielle’s is brown and black with a brown sparkly ribbon. Rachel’s is also longer to suit her lanky frame, and I think that extra inch or two makes all the difference in making her look even more grown up in it.

Aren’t they just gorgeous? They loved modeling them for me and will love wearing them every Sunday!

Thank you again, Jocelyn. We LOVE them!!! (Even my husband mentioned how nice they were and he normally doesn’t notice these things!)

On-Location Burlington Children’s Portraits | New Wall Gallery!

Last week, I received my first gallery wrap canvas order from Willow Paper Works. To say that I’m thrilled with them is an understatement! This grouping of three are 20×20 in size and have a 2 inch deep border on the sides (they also come in 1 inch if you prefer). The quality is outstanding, and the canvas finish makes the photography just pop off the walls. Beautiful! I am so happy with them, and know they will be treasured in our home for years to come.

We have average 8 foot ceilings in our main living area. Usually when people hear “20×20″ they think that it is so huge! But when you see it up on the wall, you can see that bigger is indeed better. I think these three portraits wouldn’t have half the impact if they were 12×12.

I also designed an edge with a pattern, texture and each of my children’s names on it (on all four sides), instead of the traditional route of wrapping the photo around the edge. This adds another level of personalization to my heirloom art pieces!

Before I hung them, I took photos of each of my children with the portrait of themselves. This also gives you a little more perspective on the actual size of the canvases. Micah and Rachel are almost 4 years old in these photos, and Danielle is 2 1/2.

These gorgeous pieces are customized with the favourite photos of your session (front & back) and hand-stamped words. You can choose names or a phrase – anything goes! Both necklaces & bracelets are available.

I have ordered two of these necklaces with photos and the names of my children… wow, they are just gorgeous. I am so pleased with them! The quality is outstanding, and they are made to last through generations. You also have the option to change out the photo when you come for another session. They are very versatile!
